A maximum of 5 points can be gained on each of the 15 hazards throughout the 14 videos. The video clips are CGI “Computer Generated Images”. You must pass both parts of the test on the same day. You will receive your results before you leave the test centre.
Practical Driving Test
The practical driving test will last around 40 minutes long.
It is conducted by a DVSA examiner from your local driving test centre. In order to pass the test you must not exceed more than 15 driving faults or (minor faults) as they used to be known as, or receive any serious faults (potential danger) or any dangerous faults (actual danger) if this happens unfortunately this would result in failure.
At the beginning of the test you will be asked to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5m if you can not read the number plate this will result in failure of the test.
The examiner will ask you two safety questions “show me, tell me”. The “tell me” question will be at the test centre before you start driving, and the “show me” question will be while you are driving.
You will be assessed on your general driving ability. You will be taken on different types of roads and traffic conditions, i.e. rural roads and in town driving, but not motorways. You will be asked to do 20 minutes of independent driving either following a sat navigation or traffic signs. The examiner will tell you which ones you are to follow.
You will be asked to do 1 reversing manoeuvre out of a possible 3. 1 in 3 tests will be asked to do an emergency stop.
